5 survival tips for travelling with your partner

As seen on Cityline

Traveling with a partner can seem like a good idea but for anyone who has been to Ikea
with their beloved, you know that even the best plans can end disastrously. Here are some
tips for making your romantic getaway unforgettable…in a good way.

  1. Pick somewhere you are both really excited about
Create a new experience for both of you
Have activities you can both take part in
    Climate you’re both looking for

2. Be transparent about your budget.

  • One of you can’t be ready to spend and the other looking to budget
  • You will be resentful of the other person
  • You will be disappointed by food, drinks and accommodation
  1. Compromise when it comes to activities or clashing travel styles.

If you do have differing styles of travel, compromise ex. Hike in the
morning and lay by the pool in the afternoon OR spend a few days in the
city (museums, art galleries) and a few days on the coast (boat life)

  1. Participate in events where you meet people

Embrace meeting other people. It will give you more to talk about.
Take a group cooking class, SUP class together, and embrace something
new as a couple. These experiences will bond you.

  1. Schedule some alone time.

We ALL need some alone time and that’s okay. Give yourself time to do
the thing that fill your cup. You are allowed to be your own person- that
applies on holiday too.

  1. Have daily check ins

What did you love about today? What didn’t you like? What are you
excited about tomorrow? What could we change?

  1. Be a team

In a relationship, you’re a team. Help each other have a great time by
listening, supporting, and compromising.
