Unexpected Items To Bring On Vacay With A Baby
When it comes to traveling with tots, it is hard to know exactly what to pack. I’m a definite over-packer who may or may not have packed her son three pairs of shoes for a beach all-inclusive getaway, only to discover that he preferred to be barefoot. Turns out, of everything I packed, the dollar store stacking toy I bought at the last minute was a huge success as the premier vacation toy for my son, my two- year- old niece and my five- year- old nephew. In anticipation of our next family getaway, I asked some friends (who also happen to be parenting experts) which unexpected item they always pack on vacation:
Personally, I never go anywhere without baby wipes and always travel with Huggies Natural Care wipes. They are 99% water, three times filtered and tripled layered, all perfect for wiping sensitive skin on baby bums, sticky fingers or ice cream covered cheeks. Pure and gentle, these baby wipes are also pH balanced and travel perfectly in their Clutch n’ Clean case. Unexpected Items To Bring On Vacay With A Baby
We are both obsessed with our beach tents! We never go to a beach without them. Having shade for our babes is crucial.

One random thing I have learned to bring on a sunny vacation is a nail clipper. Blame the amazing salt water and vitamin D that takes my daughter’s nail game up a whole other level. So instead of dealing with long and unruly toddler nails, just bring a long a travel nail clipper to save everyone from unnecessary stray scratches.

For me it was the baby carrier. I thought I could rely on the stroller but so many places are not stroller friendly. So my baby carrier became a staple in my packing. Sometimes I didn’t even bring a stroller in the end- Just the carrier because it is so much more mobile.

Definitely pack disposable bottles for water and milk as places to clean reusable bottles might not be available.

Before our last vacation my friend bought me this wet bag for my son. I took it along assuming it would never leave the suitcase. Then I used it every single day! It was SO handy to have!
Basically I used it to keep anything wet separate from anything dry- wet bathing suits, swim diapers, soiled clothes and sand toys. I highly recommend getting one for your next beach trip!

A lightweight travel highchair can be good if the place isn’t advertised as family friendly. One that attaches to the table if possible. Great to have on hand.

Snacks are, of course, an obvious thing to bring when travelling anywhere with a baby or toddler (or anyone really – I always need snacks)..
On a recent three week trip to Taiwan, my 2.5 year old son suddenly got fussier than usual about food. He would refuse to eat in restaurants more often than I’d like to admit, even when it was food that he would eat at home, so that threw me for a bit of a loop. Not to mention the food on the plane…..also a nope. So I would say perhaps pack even more (familiar) snacks than you think you might need.

It doesn’t sound like a must have for a beach vacation but our noise machine has come in handy on our past trips.Nightlife at resorts can get loud, and even daytime napping is usually better with some white noise blocking out poolside excitement.

I didn’t realize how essential our lightweight stroller would be on the beach! I knew I wanted a lightweight stroller for travel itself but it was a saviour on the beach for pushing around an exhausted toddler and getting good quality naps when it was reclined. The stroller gave me the freedom to stay at and enjoy the pool or beach while he napped instead of heading back to our room.

What is one item that you and your baby do not travel without?
Such great tips! Thank you for including my tip in there! Can’t wait to use some of these for our next adventure 🙂
This is a great list of essentials! I would’ve NEVER thought of nail clippers. Got wanderlust reading this piece so I booked a family vacay lol.
An effective stroller should have a canopy to protect your child from the sun rays as well as wind, a storage basket a 5-point safety harness. Easy to Use: A stroller should be easy to use and their instructions should be clear and precise, even when you’re trying to calm a crying baby. What makes the stroller less annoying are the linked brakes which you could activate only with a single move and harness arrangement that won’t let you connect the straps to your waist every time you carry your little one. Easy to fold, carry and store: Based on the interviews that we’ve done, most salespeople and parents thinks that weight and mobility are the key priority when purchasing a stroller. Basically, the lesser steps to fold the stroller, the better.
The fact that one can be able to fold the stroller with ease, it will also be very easy to store it without consuming space in the house. A person who does not know what a stroller is may not even notice it when it has been folded and stored.
thanks so much Natali! I love the lighter pieces as well!
