Welcome to West Hollywood, one of L.A.’s most glamorous destinations. Nestled at the base of the glittering Hollywood Hills beside the bling-worthy Beverly Hills, West Hollywood has morphed into the ultimate bespoke spot on every level.
While this hub of luxe is pocket-sized—a mere five square kilometres—the sizzling Southern California (SoCal) area embodies the quintessential Los Angeles lifestyle.
You can play and stay in three main districts: the stunning Sunset Strip, eclectic Santa Monica Boulevard and the West Hollywood Design District. The latter, known for exclusive design showrooms and award-winning restaurants, also thrives as a shopper’s emporium. Vibrant WeHo (West Hollywood’s friendly moniker) is renowned for its A-list Oscar and Emmy parties, Halloween Carnaval and one of the largest LGBTQ+ Pride events in the United States. With year-round warm weather, prime location and trendy vibe, West Hollywood is both the home and playground for superstars, making it the perfect city for celeb spotting.
Where To Stay
WeHo is home to some of the world’s most lavish hotel brands. The luxurious Pendry West Hollywood, 1 Hotel West Hollywood, The West Hollywood EDITION and the Kimpton La Peer all recently opened their doors here.
Considered one of the city’s finest accommodations, the glamorous London West Hollywood hotel is a unique property that blends a bold British style flawlessly with a contemporary SoCal twist. The hotel’s gorgeous ’Grammable rooftop pool is the ultimate place for relaxing L.A. style, stretched out on a Victorian-style chaise enjoying a custom cocktail. There, the palm trees, living wall and cascading water fountain complement the iconic panoramic vista of downtown Beverly Hills and the arts-rich Getty Center. You might catch a celebrity sighting especially during awards season.
Where to Eat
Famed restaurateurs, celebrity chefs and actors have launched some of their most spectacular offerings in WeHo. For reality TV fans of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, Pump, SUR or Tom Tom are the go-to hangouts to enjoy an array of apps, classic cocktails, and if lucky, you can grab that sought-after Insta pic of a cast member.
In an innovative digital video about WeHo’s trailblazing creators called Creators of West Hollywood, hear Chef Raphael Francois share his inspiration behind his highly lauded French cuisine hotspot, Tesse, located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. On the Sunset Strip at Warrior, you can also indulge in modern Chinese cuisine with hipster cocktails in a trendy space. If you’re craving Thai with a local twist, the bustling Night + Market, an edgy eatery on Sunset Boulevard, is famous for their northern street food and scrumptious fried chicken sandwiches. A few blocks further south at stylish Soulmate, you can feast on lip-smacking Spanish Mediterranean fare paired with your choice of fine wines.
What To Do
Since the 1950s, West Hollywood’s Design District has been leading the way in creative inspirations. Here you will find one-of-a-kind stores like Poltrona Frau, a luxurious Italian furniture store that oozes sophistication, and Mary Ta’s Minotti, another designer featured in the Creators of West Hollywood video series. Other boutiques like Maxfield offer luxury brands and vintage furniture under one roof. Shoppers can scan these racks for fashion collector items before heading to Sunset Plaza to splash some cash on more luxury designers like H. Lorenzo and Badgley Mischka.
After the shopping spree, it’s time to explore the legendary nightclubs and lounges that have hosted some of the greatest musicians of all time. Since 1985, music legends such as Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Wonder and Queen have laid down their hands into the cement, signing their autographs. You can also visit the famed Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go or The Roxy Theatre for live music from music legends and new emerging artists.
Now, are you ready to unwind? Head to Vie Healing, a unique healing centre that offers acupuncture, EFT tapping, reiki and 24K gold ear seeding. Vie Healing focuses on reigniting inner vitality and vibrancy using Traditional Chinese Medicine, improving overall well-being through pressure points and rebalancing.
Finally, over on the Sunset Strip, go for the belly laughs at The Comedy Store, a stage that has hosted comedy legends like Dave Chapelle, Jerry Seinfeld and Marc Maron.
