Gone are the days of ordering a ride a few hours before your flight or throwing your suitcase in a taxi you just flagged down. When flying with your babies, you now have to bring the stroller, a car seat and oh yes- the baby. Sometimes two babies. It can, however, be done with some ease.
Here are four of my favourite options:
This is what I use and perfect if you are ditching the car seat on your trip (which I advise and suggest renting on arrival). Simply drive to your departure terminal where a Park 4 U attendant will meet you. They help you unload your gear before driving away to park your car. On your return, they will meet you at your arrival terminal, so you can just hop in your car and away you go
For a fee, they will detail your car as well.
This is the most popular option and has different levels of service: self park or valet park. Either way, you will need to take a shuttle to and from the terminal. I find this a trickier option when you have kids and their gear in tow. This is usually the most inexpensive way to park at the airport for longer periods of time.
Taxi or Uber or Lyft
Believe it or not, you can request a ride with a car seat. I like to use Aeroport Taxi: they arrive with the car seat installed and ready to go, and the same when picking us up at the airport on return. The only issue is, their car seats are not for infants. If you are traveling with a baby still in a bucket seat and aren’t planning on taking their car seat with you, this many not be your best bet.
Airport Parking
This is your most expensive option but also the easiest. We may park at long term parking for a last minute weekend away and eat the cost for the sake of convenience. They also have value parking lots which a bit further away but again, worth it. It does, however, ensure that you get to the airport in your own vehicle, own car seats and home the same way.
Note: Always check parking service websites for promotions. It is likely that they will a deal available.
What have I missed? How do you get to the airport with babies?
