A Four Seasons Momcation Staycation
Motherhood is a full time job. Just recently, my son entered the terrible two’s and it is an emotionally exhausting time for both of us. Even as I write this, I am on the verge of tears as he cries in his crib when he should be napping. I love our days together and I am so lucky to be with him as he grows, discovers and learns, but those days are also full of tantrums, negotiating meals and figuring out how to manage our time. Sometimes I am just so tired, I crave a break from my family but feel so guilty for wishing time away from my son. Luckily, my guilt was absconded with some late night reads on the web. A Four Seasons Momcation Staycation
According to a recent article discovered in said late night reads, psychologists recommend a mom-cation, (at least two days off), to help balance with the financial and time stresses that being a mom brings. In fact, mom-cations help the entire family. Kids see balance in life, your family has the opportunity to bond without you and most importantly, you will miss those little jerks and love coming home. A Four Seasons Momcation Staycation
Whether my darling husband read these articles or came up with it all on his own, he lovingly suggested a mom-cation for my bestie and I (who are both pregnant), staying at the fabulous Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto. We happily agreed to his suggested itinerary: A spa day, dinner at the award winning Cafe Boulod and a night sinking into fluffy white comforters (kid free!) sounded like the ideal pregnant mom-cation/staycation in the city.
We started our momcation with a day at the spa, getting a massage, facials, lunch and mani/pedis. I hadn’t had a facial in years and let me tell you, if I am planning on splurging on myself in the future, it will be on a facial. It was seventy-five glorious face-focused minutes slipping in and out of sleep, catching myself on the occasional snore: Pure heaven.
We checked into the award-winning Four Seasons and tore back the curtains to take in Toronto’s beautiful skyline. I envy visitors to our city who get to absorb this fantastic view for the first time.
Every Four Seasons property is different, unique to its location, culture and surroundings. FS Toronto embraces Toronto with city focused photography and massive floor to ceiling windows to take in the city landscape, all based in the vibrant and glamorous Yorkville neighbourhood.
Luxury from the moment you step inside, I’ve always found that Four Seasons customer service is unlike any other. It feels personalized, detail focused and genuine, a trait not always felt in hospitality. Always above and beyond, I love how the Four Seasons makes me feel – like the ultimate VIP.
Dinner at Cafe Boulod was divine. From our corner booth, we chatted, people watched and contemplated our growing baby bumps. The conversation inevitably turned to our kids and we flipped through pictures on our phones, traded silly stories and maybe even started missing those little monsters…maybe. Of course, the food was scrumptious, the drinks on point. With the talented French Chef Daniel Boulod at the helm, we indulged in succulent seafood, spicy escargot and yummy ginger mocktails made especially for us.
After dinner, we crawled happy, full and worn out into our warm and cozy beds, fluffy duvets pulled up to our chins. We drifted off and slept until noon the next day…NOON! I haven’t slept till noon since…well…before I had a child. A Four Seasons Momcation Staycation
We decided to extend our time away from home with room service overlooking fabulous Toronto. Fresh ground coffee, cheese board, jams, toast and more chatting made for the perfect midday wake up with our city as the perfect backdrop. A Four Seasons Momcation Staycation
We returned home feeling rested and rejuvenated. From the time we arrived at the spa to the moment we checked out, we felt like the Four Seasons has our best ‘mom/staycation’ interests at heart. They understood that we were tired, pregnant moms who needed some calm in the storm we call our day-to-day lives and knew how to make that happen.
…And you should’ve seen the welcome we got when we went home!
